MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Forget the naughty or nice list. It appears more people are forgoing giving gifts this season, and instead buying more for themselves.

A survey from the University of St. Thomas found people plan to spend about $850 on gifts this holiday season.

That amount hasn’t changed from last year.

But how much money people put aside to buy themselves a little something has jumped to $132.

The National Retail Federation says nearly 60 percent of people are buying themselves something this holiday season.

Stores are noticing.

Many are offering rewards cards to shoppers who buy specific things or spend a certain amount.
